Stained Glass Hosta — Large Gold & Green Fragrant Shade Perennial
A Masterpiece for the Shade Garden — Stained Glass Hosta
Like light filtering through a cathedral window, Stained Glass Hosta (Hosta 'Stained Glass') illuminates shady corners with its breathtaking foliage. The large, leathery leaves glow with a luminous golden center framed by deep green margins and bold, deeply etched veins — a combination so striking it looks almost backlit. In midsummer, tall stems rise above the mound bearing fragrant pale purple bell-shaped flowers that butterflies love. With a wide spread of 3–4 feet, it makes a dramatic statement as a specimen plant or in mass plantings under trees.

Care & Maintenance
Low maintenance. Snails and slugs can cause serious damage — monitor regularly and treat early. Watch for foliar nematodes, which cause interveinal browning. If plants show signs of Hosta Virus X (HVX), tobacco rattle virus, or tomato ring spot virus, remove and destroy them immediately to prevent spread. Otherwise, a very easy and rewarding plant to grow.
Landscape Uses
Stunning as a specimen or in group plantings in borders, woodland gardens, naturalized areas, rock gardens, and containers. Its large spread makes it an excellent choice for filling in shady areas under trees or along north-facing foundations.
